It has been an amazingly long time since I have written about the 2 most important beings in my life.. We have been entirely too busy to stop and enjoy the Season around us.. My favorite... I have been too busy with my passion... photography. Don't get me wrong I bare no ill feelings toward a busy Autumn behind my camera..I have thoroughly enjoyed it... I just have missed so much with my little ones this year.. We always make a trek to the apple orchard and I always make them stop for photos in the pumpkins... We missed those moments and they have been a Fall traditon since we were blessed with the arrival of Miss Kaelyn, all those years ago...It's a deep feeling, like an old friend you look forward to seeing once a year...and just could not fit that "visit" in your schedule... Daddy has been gone for his 2nd trip on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico.. Momma picked up a day job.... Thing 1 and Thing 2 both had activities to keep us running.. and silently, quickly and without notice (well..I missed the notice..) Autumn happened... and I let a deep sigh, filled with a heavy sadness at its all too fleeting departure...Recently, my son, has found his way back into my bed.. (Daddy is gone so he stole his side..) We cuddle and snuggle and giggle and tell lots of stories.. late into the night.. And when he sleeps.. I stare at his little face, watching his chest rise and fall and thank God for the gift I have been given .. I am just in awe of these 2. ..and when it gets really crazy. I step back and allow myself just a few moments to stare at the beauty within them, the wonder on their faces...and a great happiness fills my heart... Blessed to be their Momma.... The other night Bub and I were under the covers.. giggling holding each other.. his little hands around my neck ..looking up at me with those incredibly big eyes... He said "Momma tell me a story.." I said "Oh..Bub.. I don't know any stories" and sighed... He said " Momma you know all the stories in the whole wide world..." I giggled... "Okay, Bub.. what story do you want Momma to tell you?" He got a huge furrow across his brow... hmmmmmm... He thought about it for a very long time .. I just lay there counting all his freckles in the small amount of light the flashlight gave off.. :) Finally.. he stopped thinking and he turned to me with THE biggest smile on his face .. "I know Momma...I know!!" I waited... "I want you to tell the story of the day I got here"......Oh.. that little boy.. how I love him so... My eyes welled with tears because this is one of my all time favorite stories.. One of the stories that made me a better person.. one of the stories that fills my heart with joy... The story I have always wanted to tell and am blessed to tell it... The day I became a Momma for the 2nd time.... We laid there and talked for an hour about the day "he got here".. and I held that little man ... and said thank-you over and over that I was chosen to be his mother.. Kaelyn, my girl child, is not as lovey as the boy model.. Oh.. she loves her Momma.. but its on her own terms... I cannot run over and just pick her up and maul her like I can the boy.. It's okay.. it's who she is and when she is ready for a cuddle she comes to me... The other day she had gone for a visit somewhere and when she got home she was extra lovey.. As, though she had been gone for days... I soaked it up.. Those moments with her are gone all too quickly... and lately our time is filled with sassy responses to whatever I have asked her at that moment.. it's okay.. I understand the girl model.. because.. well.. I am one... :) So, here she was cuddling with me.. I looked down into her little face.. perfect little lips and she said "Momma ..you are the best Mom in the whole world..." I chuckled.. in spite of her serious face.. I said "Oh.. yeah...how do you know that?" she laughed and said .."OH.. Momma... I just KNOW..." hugged me around the neck.. quick kiss on the cheek and she was gone.... I find it really important to embrace these moments and write them down.. for the moments when she is hating me so.. :) I love that child more than words and am thankful that she sees what she is to me...
Happy Autumn to you and yours ... take a moment to slow down and make some memories with your loved ones...hold onto those moments and know that they are truly blessings in disguise...

~Stacy
